TALL GIRLS POLL: Do you feel awkward wearing heeled/wedge shoes?

I am not "that" tall. I am 5'7". I bought myself a pair of wedge sandals earlier which have a 2" wedge. I tried them on and was pleasantly surprised at how comfy they felt but when I stood up in them, I felt like a giant around the shorter people around me in the store. lol Do you feel this way? Do you avoid wearing heeled (or wedge) shoes because of this or it doesn't phase you? I would love to read your stories. :)
