Since our government representatives are just puppets under corporations,why not eliminate them as middlemen?

All the candidates are on the campaign trail with promises for the american people,but once in office,they do what american and foreign corporations tell them what to do,so why are we paying our government representatives thousands if not millions of dollars with our taxes to represent corporations,just let the corporations campaign on their own name instead of trying to fool the public
