Has anyone had this happen to them?

I have been clear of malignant melanoma for 2years now. I have been having extreme pain in my left groin/abdomen area during my period. I have a fibroid on the left side but my gyn says it shouldn't be causing me any pain. I had a l scan which showed right side of lining of my womb was paper thin and the left side was really thick. I was at the gyn yesterday to get a hysteroscopy done under local anaesthetic but she just about got a smear done, and refused to carry on as it was causing too much pain. I was eager to just try and cope with the pain and get it over and done with but she says I have to go back for a general anaesthetic. Seemingly I have a sensitive cervix, is there such a thing? Whats worrying me is it has never been as painful to get a smear done before. I am 46yrs. She says the thickening might be a pollup, but she just needed a proper look. Could this be cancer?
