Do Anne and Diana of the Anne of Green Gables series ever stop being friends in the book series?

They are bosom friends for life, and they swear they will never forget each other, but in the first book, they are forced to stop being friends by Diana's mother after Anne accidentally gets Diana drunk. However, they are allowed to be friends once again after Anne saves the life of Minnie May Barry, Diana's younger sister, and they remain close friends after Anne marries Gilbert and moves away.
